8.1.0178 Compatibility

Sunday 25 February 2007, 23:33

Alright, it's been a while since I had time to work on StuffPlug, and in the mean time Microsoft released Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178. I don't have a fully compatible version yet, nor do I have a release-ready version at the moment, so you'll have to settle with StuffPlug 3.0.286.

Luckily, StuffPlug 3.0.286 is completely compatible with WLM 8.1.0178 except for the Keyboard-LED flashing and talk while blocked features. I will make sure these features are fixed in the next release, but it's going to take a while.

So yeah, if I'm posting anyway, I might as well give you some news on what'll be coming up with the next release smile.gif
Gune already posted some pictures here, but there's no real list of what's changed, so here goes:
- WLM 8.0 compatible
- New feature: replace default emoticons with custom emoticons
- Windows of the same type now only open once.
- Fixed several memory leaks.
- New feature: More than 5 custom emoticons per message
- Made installation directory choosable smile.gif
- Fixed feature: use better icons for status-icon feature
- Status-icon feature now also changes icon in window itself
- New feature: Ability to turn SP convo button on or off
- New feature: Ability to turn SP contactlist button on or off
- Fixed feature: AdHider overhaul
- New feature: Timezone adjustable clock per contact
- loads of UI updates
- loads of other miscellaneous bugfixes

So yeah, the next version will totally rock smile.gif Be sure to keep an eye out for it wink.gif

*loox around* You seem to have forgotten the Australian translation ("Jail talk" being ex cons and all) for SP3... haha. I'm impatiently looking forward to the next release of SP3. biggrin.gif

When using SP 3.0.286 (set to English) and WLM 8.1.0178 (German version), it seems that very often the messenger doesn't respond for about half a minute or even a few minutes when switching between chat windows. And opening the SP options window also causes it to lag hardly.

And the German translation is not too useful because the German texts often are a bit longer than the original ones, and the description field at the bottom of the SP options window isn't resizable, so that most of the times I can't read the whole descriptions - so I had to switch SP to English to really use it.
And the descriptions and explanations (especially for functions that can be used with special commands in chat windows) could be a bit more precise (also in English), anyway.

And one more thing: When I let SP change the symbols of the chat windows according to the status of the chat partners (very useful feature!), the icons (especially when pressing Alt+Tab for switching windows) have a quite low and ugly resolution...

But besides that, I love SP! Thanks for developing and improving it! smile.gif

The ugly icons when alt+tabbing have been fixed for the new release.

Please do not ask where things you suggested are... If theyre not in the list, then they are yet to be added so please be patient. If TB has said they will be added, then he will add them in a future (not necessarily the next) release.

It´s not quite as you say, cuz every time i install my Royal Noir Aspect ,after reboot ,it changes to some classic xp, even with older versions.
They just don´t match
