Hello
I'm sure many of us have come up to this question. I've stealed someone elses' display pic, or made my own. But then I have to change my computer... Does anyone here knows where MSN (WLM) / MSN Msgr+ / SP2 save those display pics and emotions? Printscreen one by one isn't really cool =P |

Actually, I really don't know but you can save those pictures in the folder that you want

Aside from the dialog box which displays for you to save and use the stolen dps/ces you want by typing /xcedpstealer, I'm guessing the pictures by default would be stored somewhere such as in your Temporary Internet Files (%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files).

your own display pictures are stored in "%appdata%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\%ID%\UserTile", and the custom emotes, backgrounds, etc. are in the folders nearby \UserTile.

Your contacts DP's are stored in "%temp%\MessengerCache" and not in "%appdata%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\%ID%\UserTile".

Just to clarify, if I were to change computer and wanted to transfer my emotes and Display pictures, I'd need the following folders?
"%appdata%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\%ID%\UserTile" in the nearby folders " \UserTile" ? |

This post might help you to transfer your display pictures, emoticons and other stuff: http://messengersays.spaces.live.com/blog/...#33;25065.entry
I don't have any folder in Local Settings called Microsoft, but in "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\<Windows Live ID>\ObjectStore\" I have the folders. I guess it's a mistake... This will probably work better: CODE xcopy /s /i "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\messengeruser@hotmail.com\ObjectStore\*.*" \MessengerContent Use this on the computer you want to copy to: CODE xcopy /s *.* "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\messengeruser@hotmail.com\ObjectStore" Replace messengeruser@hotmail.com with your own Windows Live ID. In WLM 8.0, personal content is still stored in "%appdata%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\%ID%\", so if you wanted to save all of it, you would just have to backup its content...
Note that the "\UserTile\" subfolder contains your own display pictures. This post has been edited by Apatik-: Jan 4 2007, 08:54 PM -------------------- ![]() |
