A list of admins can be found here. Any links sent from members claiming to be admins who are not on that list are most likely suspicious and thereby should probably be reported.
As a warning, one should always be careful when clicking suspicious links, especially ones linking to Russian websites. This post has been edited by Aardvark: Apr 13 2009, 03:41 PM -------------------- |

It's a spambot guys, we had the same thing happen on the MD forum a couple of days back. IPB has a patch out for it, I suggest you look that up.

Oh dear, it appears I made the problem worse by deleting the offending spam bot account...
I'll inform someone who has more access to the sever than me. |

Hey Steve it's a 5 minute fix to stop them without even getting into that server stuff. Stop normal members from sending PM messages and promote members after a certain post account to + members who can use the pm system.

Stop normal members from sending PM messages and promote members after a certain post account to + members who can use the pm system. That isn't a very good long term solution though, as newbies who do need pm assistance won't be able to use the service, and regardless, if they can't get their agenda across through personal messages because of some member message limit, they'll just make it so the accounts spam x number of messages all of which promote their agenda, and THEN send their personal messages. That could only make the problem worse. -------------------- |

Security to members is more important then some newb who should just post his problem on the forums board because isn't that what it's there for. Anyway theres been an update see if it stops the problem next time. -------------------- ![]() Got a problem with me take a number and stand in the Que. MessengerDiscovery Administrator |
