Fix confirmed, this is actually fixed without the need to update messenger. So I guess we can forget this SP feature.
The way it works is like this: Last week (when I checked) the regexp's where like this: .*grouppicture\.php.* Those are not build in, but each time you sign on, the server sends a big list of the regular expressions. This improves safety, if they find a new unsafe url, then can immidiately add it, and nobody will be able to receive messages with that url. But, this regexp can also be replaced by: grouppicture\.php Which will match exactly the same sentences, but then much faster. So, they changed the regexp's on the server, and each client receives the new ones now. So, all conversations should be faster now. I also saw they removed a few expressions, maybe old url's that didn't exist anymore. |

Hehe... I think they realized what a huge mistake they made and quickly changed it.
So, that means we don't need that WLM Anti-freezing script anymore? This post has been edited by Matti: Apr 30 2007, 05:43 PM |

Like I mentioned before, I kinda like the idea of SP diagnostics and fixes to messenger, not only just adding fun features. I'm just hoping for more. Although there seems to be not many other problems now...

Although there seems to be not many other problems now... Yeeesss not many left indeed. But there are still some, like the ridiculous amount of memory usage messenger wants to use up! (it's not as bad as it used to be but still). Lets get a proper fix for this somewhere! -------------------- |

Hi, i did a quick search on the forum but didn't find anything..
could you at least add an option to disable these checks? i'm sharing a lot of links (galery.php, download.php...etc) with my friends and i'm really tired of WLM blocking all of them without warning.. now, as a workaround i just put a space in between like "blahblablah/gallery.p hp" but that disables the links so i can't click on them, instead hav to copy n paste and reconstruct it... dunno if it falls into this category, because i heard that WLM filters these links server-side, so they actually never arrive... please move this post to requests or so, when you think it should be postet there..thanx for reading.. |

No, that's impossible. The message will be processed by the servers anyway, and you can't change the security of the servers! (unless you hack them... but I don't think that's a good idea |

I guess it should be possible to do it, but I don't think it is a good idea. I agree that adding "download.php" to the blacklist is not good, but bypassing a safety meganism isn't good either!
So, you'll probably just have to live with it... |

i never said that they should turn it off completely..just make it optional...if someone wants to turn it off,why shouldn't he hav the right to do it?
it will be turned of only on the own client, so if you send links to "potential noobs" who could catch a virus, it will still be blocked... |

Neat, so now there won't be a HUGE lag when I get a long message. That is useful...
Note: Football is pointless and worthless! But that is only my own personal opinion! -------------------- |

I don't only get lags when i recieve a long msg, but almost everytime when s/o sends a custiom icon...also when i send a file or some custom stuff i hav to wait for few secs til WLM is normal again...any known reason for that? too big cache or so?
